PatchMyPc is a near perfect, easy to use solution you didn’t know you needed to make sure the software on your computer is up to date. This is handy for someone like me who does not use desktop icons, start menu shortcuts, startup or other custom install options as any installation done silently will update your software with the default settings. Options does have a setting to not do the default silent install so you can have more control over the process if you like. Installation of outdated software is done silently and smooth as could be. The very top of the screen lists a simple summary of apps to install, up to date and even Windows Updates. It has a simple, easy to use interface from here with apps broken into categories on the left, app update summary on the right along with options, startup, uninstaller and even a scheduler. Green means it’s okay, red means it needs updating and black means it’s not installed.
By the way, the app is portable so no installation is required. Once you run the program it will simply show you a list of supported software and then let you know the status. Currently over 100 programs are supported.
These programs would include Adobe, Java, Firefox, Chrome, Malwarebytes and many more. Patch My PC is a software updater unlike any other because while it can’t find everything installed (yet) it does update most of the important software that could be a security risk if not updated.
